The Wiccan Rede

Bide the loving law ye must,
in perfect love and perfect trust:
Live ye gentle and let live,
fairly take and fairly give


Cast the circle thrice about
keep love in and hatred out
To bind your spell fast every time,
let that spell be spake in rhyme


Soft of eye and light of touch,
speak ye little, listen much

When the Lady’s moon is new,
kiss your hand to her times two
Deosil go by the waxing moon,
chant a bright and growing tune
and when the moon rides at her peak,
then your heart’s desire seek and
skyclad offer thanks at night
when the Lady's light is bright
Widdershins go by waning moon
dark and inward visions boon


Heed the north winds mighty gale,
lock the door and trim the sail
When the wind comes from the south,
love will kiss thee on the mouth.

When the wind blows from the east,
expect the new and set the feast.
When the wind blows from the west
Bardic words be at their best!

When the wheel begins to turn,
let the Beltane fires burn
When the wheel hath turned to Yule
light the log for Horned One's rule


Nine woods in the cauldron go,
burn them fast and burn them slow
Elder be the Lady’s tree,
burn it not or cursed ye’ll be.

Heed ye flower, bush and tree,
by the Lady blessed be

Where the rippling waters go,
cast a stone, the truth you'll know.

When ye have and hold a need,
harken not to others greed
With a fool no season spend,
rather be your own best friend.


When misfortune is enow,
wear the star upon thy brow
True in love ever be,
lest thy love be false to thee.
