I, Maya, have been working in the arena of Spiritual Direction & Companioning, Spiritual Leadership, and Hospice & Grief Support for many years. I have been offering lectures, trainings, workshops and one-on-one facilitation in Spiritual and Artistic Awakening, Communion with Nature, and general Well-Being for groups and individuals since the early 1980's.
My certification as a Spiritual Director is through The Chaplaincy Institute (back when it was a live-on-the-ground program, in Berkeley, CA), under the direction of the fabulous John Mabry. Certification in Spiritual Direction will be with Together In The Mystery, under the radiant tutelage of Maria Tattu Bowen, Scott Quinn and Vanessa Caruso. CPE training was with Pacific Institute for Essential Conversations, and briefly at Sharp Hospital in san Diego, CA.
A trained, experienced and ordained Interfaith minister and hospice chaplain, holding an Master of Divinity degree, I abide by the The Common Code of Ethics for Chaplains, Pastoral Counselors, Pastoral Educators and by Spiritual Directors International's Ethical Guidelines
Additionally, I remain in supervision as a Spiritual Director, am a member of an Interspiritual Spiritual Directors accountability and support group, and am in supervision for my work as a Supervisor; my commitment to serving you on your path as a Spiritual Director is to maintain my circle of support in my own work and personal self-awareness.
FOR STUDENT DIRECTORS:
At any given time, I offer 1-2 directors 5-months of NO-PAY Supervision. This is my on-going offering to our wonderful practice of Spiritual Direction; I want to support emerging Directors and this offering is one of the ways I hope I may be of service. If you are a student Spiritual Director for whom a Supervisor's fee is difficult, you are welcome to inquire about my no-pay offerings.
At the end of the no-pay period, you are enjoying our work together and would like to continue, you would be most welcome, though at that point we would be working on a paying basis.
FOR ALL DIRECTORS:
Generally, I prefer that Spiritual Directors commit to 6-12* months of working together, but this is never a requirement; if at any point you, as a supervisee feel that the fit is not right, wish or need to end the supervision for any reason, you are always welcome to say and do so. 6-12 months give us time to allow a natural rhythm to unfold between us, and for you to assimilate some of the skills and techniques we explore for enhancement of your practice.
*(The exception is student directors who are in the 5-month FREE Supervision program.)
Supervision sessions are 50 minutes long and may be scheduled through my scheduling portal, via email, text or in conversation at the end of our supervision session.
FEES:
I believe Supervision for Spiritual Directors is a blessing for we who do this work, and a safeguard for our directees - and that all of us offering Spiritual Direction honor the work itself as well by committing to remaining in Supervision for the duration of our practice. Realizing that some Directors opt out of Supervision for financial reasons, I am always open to discussion of fees. That is, if you are drawn to working with me and my fee is truly a hardship for you, please reach out; I occasionally have space for another lowered-fee Supervisee.
Directors wishing to add a small donation to your regular payment in support of others are most welcome to do so; Thank you in advance.

WORKING WITH MAYA:
My supervision style is naturally relaxed and informal. For newer Directors (students and those in practice for 18 months or less), use of Remembered Dialogue Forms and Self-Supervision forms will be a part of some of our work together. Seasoned Directors are welcome to choose to use various forms or not, as best serve you. In all cases, I am aware of and happy to accommodate different learning, knowing and sensory styles, and invite artistic, musical and movement expression.
Spiritual directors of all faiths are welcome; I have worked deeply and joyfully with people on many spiritual paths from around the globe. I may be particularly - but not solely - suited to those who "color outside the lines", whether stretching the bounds of a faith you were born into, exploring or embracing one you have claimed and grown into, or several you find yourself weaving between. If "faith" overall has lost it's aliveness for you, perhaps, together, we may find some freedom in grounding in the place you are in this moment. . .
Whatever is Sacred to YOU, we shall invite into our sessions with reverence.
I am happy to use specific language for and around The Divine or the sacred that suits you, just as we, together, will use that which suits your directees, who's sessions (anonymously) we sit compassionately with.
Spuervision in Spiritual Direction is a place that together we make holy (whatever that elicits for YOU), in which we add a layer of safety for your directee - we do this by intuiting how we may both serve YOU, as Director, to be most present and attentive to The Divine, to your most authentic Self, and thus to those you care for.
